How long before my visa expires can I apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)?

How long is ILR valid for?

Indefinite as long as you are not out of the UK for more than 2 years consecutively

 

What happens after I obtain ILR?

You can then apply for British citizenship

 

What is the maximum number of days I can be out of the UK?

If married to a British citizen – 270 days in a 3 year period and not more than 90 days in the 3^rd

If not married to a British citizen – 450 days in a 5v year period and not more than 90 days in the 5th year.

 

How long does applying for British citizen take?

Can take up to 6 months

 

How long is the EEA family permit valid for?

6 Months

Non-EU family members have to apply for an EU Residence card

 

How long is a EU Residence card valid for?

5 Years
